Our property features five private studio cabins designed to recreate an authentic western town, complete with boardwalks, themed buildings, and immersive details that transport guests back in time while still providing modern comforts.

Fort Williamson is approximately 15 minutes from the West Entrance of Glacier National Park, making it an excellent home base for exploring the park.

How close is Fort Williamson to Whitefish?

Fort Williamson is approximately 20 minutes from Whitefish, making it easy to enjoy Whitefish restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and outdoor recreation while staying in a quieter location near Glacier National Park.

Do I need a vehicle while staying at Fort Williamson?

Yes. We strongly recommend having a vehicle during your stay. While Fort Williamson is conveniently located near Glacier National Park, Whitefish, Columbia Falls, restaurants, grocery stores, and other attractions, public transportation and rideshare services are limited in the area.

Having your own vehicle provides the most flexibility for exploring northwest Montana.

What is the best time to visit Glacier National Park?

Glacier National Park is beautiful year-round, but the most popular season is June through September. Summer offers full park access, while spring and fall provide fewer crowds, beautiful scenery, and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.

Can I see wildlife nearby?

Yes. Guests frequently encounter Montana wildlife in the surrounding area, including deer, elk, eagles, foxes, and other native species. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed but are common throughout the region.

What themed cabins are available?

Fort Williamson features five uniquely themed cabins:

Each cabin offers its own unique personality while providing modern amenities and comfortable accommodations.

Are the cabins private?

Yes. Each cabin is a separate, private accommodation with its own entrance. Guests enjoy the privacy of their own space while experiencing the charm of the western town setting.

How many guests can each cabin accommodate?

Fort Williamson offers accommodations for couples, families, and small groups.

Most cabins comfortably sleep 2 guests, while select cabins can accommodate up to 4 guests using the sofa bed.

What type of beds do the cabins have?

All five cabins at Fort Williamson feature a comfortable king-size bed as the primary sleeping arrangement. 

Several cabins also include a sofa sleeper, allowing select cabins to accommodate up to four guests. 

Whether you are visiting for a romantic getaway, family vacation, or Glacier National Park adventure, you'll enjoy the comfort of a spacious king bed after a day of exploring.

Which cabins have hot tubs?

Rose’s Place and Kim’s Trading Post are currently the only cabins at Fort Williamson that feature private hot tubs.

Each hot tub is exclusively reserved for guests staying in that specific cabin and is not shared with any other guests on the property.

If you reserve Rose’s Place, the hot tub is private to Rose’s Place guests only. If you reserve Kim’s Trading Post, the hot tub is private to Kim’s Trading Post guests only. Guests staying in Sheriff Jail, Joe’s Saloon, or Madam Woman’s Inn do not have access to these hot tubs.

Adding a private hot tub to each cabin is part of our long-term vision for Fort Williamson, and we hope to expand this amenity to additional cabins in the future.

Do the cabins have kitchens?

Yes. Every cabin includes a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave, sink, cookware, dishes, utensils, and a two-burner induction cooktop.

Please note that the cabins do not have traditional ovens. Most guests find the kitchens provide everything needed for preparing breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks during their stay.

What complimentary gear is available during my stay?

Do you provide bear spray?

Yes. Each cabin includes at least two cans of bear spray for guest use during their stay.

Guests are welcome to carry the bear spray while hiking or exploring Glacier National Park and surrounding areas. Please return the bear spray to the cabin before departure so future guests may use it.

Do the cabins have air conditioning and heat?

Yes. All cabins include both heating and air conditioning to ensure comfort throughout the year.

Do the cabins have Wi-Fi?

Yes. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available in all cabins.

Is parking available?

Yes. Complimentary on-site parking is available for all registered guests.

Are pets allowed?

Please refer to the specific cabin listing or contact us directly regarding current pet policies, as they may vary.

Is there a fire pit available for guests?

Yes. Fort Williamson features a shared outdoor gathering area with a community fire pit that all guests are welcome to enjoy.

Guests may build a reasonable recreational fire for relaxing after a day of exploring Glacier National Park. Fires should remain controlled and never be turned into large bonfires.

Guests are responsible for ensuring the fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area or retiring for the evening.

Are campfires allowed?

Campfires are generally allowed in the designated community fire pit when local conditions permit. However, fire restrictions and burn bans may be in effect during periods of high fire danger.

Guests must always follow local, county, state, and federal fire regulations during their stay.

Is self check-in available?

Yes. Guests receive detailed arrival instructions before check-in, allowing for a smooth and convenient self-check-in experience.

Do you offer discounts for direct bookings?

Yes. We periodically offer exclusive promotions and special discounts for guests who book directly through our website. Direct bookings also provide the best communication and flexibility.

Is Fort Williamson family-friendly?

Yes. While many guests visit as couples, families are welcome. Children often enjoy exploring the western town atmosphere and themed buildings.

Is Fort Williamson suitable for special occasions?

Absolutely. Many guests choose Fort Williamson for:

Fort Williamson is especially popular with couples planning to elope in Glacier National Park. Our Location provides convenient access to the park while offering a unique and memorable place to stay before and after your special day. 

While we generally do not recommend hosting weddings or ceremonies onsite due to occasional highway noise, Fort Williamson makes and excellent home base for wedding parties, family members, and close friends attending Glacier-area weddings and elopements.

Many couples also enjoy using our authentic Old West town as a backdrop for getting-dready photos, first-look photos, and other memorable wedding and elopement pictures before heading to Glacier National Park for their ceremony.

The unique setting creates unforgettable memories and incredible photo opportunities that simply can't be found at a traditional hotel.

Travel Insurance Recommendation

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance. Weather events, flight delays, wildfires, illness, family emergencies, and other unexpected circumstances can impact travel plans. Travel insurance may help protect your investment if you need to cancel your trip.

Do you offer refunds for cancellations?

Yes. Cancellation policies vary depending on where your reservation was booked. Direct bookings and VRBO reservations receive a 90% refund when canceled 30 or more days before arrival. Booking.com reservations receive a full refund when canceled 30 or more days before arrival. Airbnb reservations follow Airbnb’s Firm Cancellation Policy.

Reservations canceled within 30 days of arrival are generally non-refundable. However, we understand that unexpected situations arise and will work with guests on a case-by-case basis. If we are able to rebook some or all of the canceled nights, we may offer a partial refund based on the amount recovered from the replacement booking. Because last-minute reservations are often discounted to fill open dates, any refund amount may be less than the original reservation value and is not guaranteed.
